The Chief Election Commissioner also revealed that there are a total of 968 million registered voters in India. “We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakhs polling stations, 1.5 crores polling officials and security staff, 55 lakhs EVMs, 4 lakhs vehicles,” he said.
In the 2019 general elections in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 22 seats, marking a victory, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made considerable progress by securing 18 seats. In contrast, the Left Front managed to secure only two seats, and the Congress, once a dominant player in the state, faced a setback by failing to win any seats.
Additionally, the BJP’s vote share surged from 17.02% and two seats in 2014 to 40.25% and 18 Lok Sabha seats in 2019. This shift underscored a significant change in the state’s political dynamics, highlighting the BJP’s increasing influence under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
