New Delhi: Two minor girls belonging to the SC community were raped and brutally murdered by hanging from a tree in UP’s Lakhimpur Khiri.

The videos of the two sisters making rounds on social media sites. Taking cognizance of the matter, UP ADG (L&O) Prashant Kumar said, “Bodies of two sisters found hanging on a tree at some distance from their house in Lakhimpur. SP is present on the spot. A case will be registered on the basis of the complaint received from their family. Every aspect will be examined.”

Samajwadi Party, sharing the video of both the sisters, demanded strict action against the culprits. The Party also raised questions on the law & order and safety of women in BJP-ruled state. It said “Truth of UP CM who made hollow claims about women’s safety! The bodies of two minor Dalit sisters were found hanging from a tree in Lakhimpur Kheri. In Yogi government, goons are harassing mothers and sisters every day, very shameful! The government should get the matter investigated, the culprits should get the harshest punishment.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also took to Twitter and said “The incident of murder of two sisters in Lakhimpur (UP) is heart-wrenching. The relatives say that those girls were abducted in broad daylight. Giving false advertisements in newspapers and TV every day does not improve law and order. After all, why are heinous crimes against women increasing in UP?”
