Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Amid heightened scrutiny followed by the widespread doctors’ protest, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested former RG Kar Hospital Principal Sandip Ghosh on charges of ‘financial misconduct’ on Monday.
Ghosh was under probe by the CBI in connection to the rape and murder of a Kolkata trainee doctor and corruption during his tenure at RG Kar Hospital. After being initially interrogated at CBI’s Salt Lake Office, Ghosh was officially arrested later at the agency’s Nizam Palace Office.

CBI Books Three Kolkata-Based Entities
The CBI has booked Sandip Ghosh and three Kolkata-based entities, following orders from the Calcutta High Court. The Central Agency had previously conducted a search operation at Ghosh’s Beliaghata residence over corruption charges. Additionally, Ghosh was being questioned for his link with the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata.
Anti-Rape Bill
Draft of an anti-rape bill was likely to be presented today by Banerjee-led government at the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday, proposing capital punishment for persons convicted of rape.
