New Delhi: Influencers Tanya Khanijow and Sarah Sarosh are facing backlash all over the internet over the Kolkata rape-murder case. In an X post, Tanya Khanijow voiced her concern over the horrifying incident and urged women abroad to “avoid coming to India at all costs.”
She wrote on X, “Safety standards for women in India are horrible.” Her remarks have ignited strong backlash by her followers and internet users. Critics are regarding Tanya as an anti-national over her statement. Nevertheless, many have come in defence of the influencer.

Another famous Indian influencer Sarah Sarosh is also under fire over a ‘Get Ready With Me’ instagram reel. The reel has now been deleted but it is still being circulated across social media. Sarah did a full face makeup in the reel but the twist here lies with the voice-over which spoke about the recent rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical Hospital.

Sarah is getting hate for smiling, winking and showing her beauty products in the now deleted reel. Internet is slamming her for being insensitive towards the incident. The video was shared on instagram yesterday.

Both Sarah and Tanya is getting negative reactions for their approach from internet users. Lets look at some of the reactions:
An X user wrote for Tanya that she should be ashamed of calling herself an Indian. Another user suggested her to go to Pakistan.
People have also been criticizing Sarah online for her GRWM video. An X user wrote on the widely circulated video that she can do anything to fetch views. Another accused her of being a narcissist and attention seeker.
Many called out for boycotting the youtube and instagram channels of both the influencers.

On the critricism, Tanya said that she stands by her statement and will say it again. She wrote on X “If your house is dirty, do you call guests over before cleaning it? I don’t!.”
In another post on X, Tanya said that she don’t want any of her women friends, acquaintances or even strangers to meet with violent crimes.
Sarah Sarosh on the Criticism
In an instagram story, the content creator apologised and clears her intentions. She said that she only wanted to voice this issue.
Sarah mentioned that she deleted the video within 5 minutes of posting it after realising how the video looked like.
