IND vs SA, 3rd T20I: Tilak Varma Powers Suryakumar Yadav And Co To 11-run Win Over Proteas

India registered a 11-run win over South Africa in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I 2024 and were able to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series.

The India national cricket team was able to register a brilliant victory over South Africa in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I 2024. The Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav defeated the Proteas by a margin of 11 runs wherein Indian batter Tilak Varma played a major role by playing an innings of 107* runs off 56 balls which included eight fours and seven sixes. Tilak powered the visitors achieve a first-innings score of 219/6 which was later defended well by the bowlers.

While batting first, India lost the wicket of Sanju Samson on the second ball as he was cleaned up by Marco Jansen. This was the second duck for Samson in the consecutive match. While, the hosts put the Suryakumar Yadav and Co on the backfoot, Tilak Varma broke the shackles from the first and started to take on the South African bowlers. He was well supported by Abhishek Sharma and boundaries were being hit from both the ends. Both the batters added 107 runs from 52 balls for the second wicket which proved to be very essential for the side.

Soon after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed, the Indian team lost the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh and Hardik Pandya in quick succession. Despite, falling wickets, Tilak Varma stood firm at one end, whereas Ramandeep Singh played some important shots to help the Indian team register a big first-innings score.

Team India Register Brilliant Win Over South Africa

South Africa began the chase on an aggressive note with Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks hitting boundaries from both ends. Rickelton was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh whereas Varun Chakaravarthy got rid of Hendricks. Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs tried to build a partnership but both the batters never got going. While Stubbs was caught in front by Ravi Bishnoi, Aiden Markram got dismissed by Varun Chakarvarthy.

The South African team began to comeback in the match when Heinrich Klaasen started to take the onus in his hands. Klaasen played an innings of 41 runs from 22 balls which included 1 four and four sixes. While the Indian team would have felt that the match might be in their hand, Marco Jansen didn’t give up easily and smashed the second fastest hundred by a South African batter but at the end the hosts fell short of the target by 11 runs.
