Ever since they separated themselves from Mahagathbandhan, it is being speculated that they would join National Democratic Alliance led by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Earlier, talking to the media after announcing his resignation, Santosh said that the existence of his party was in danger.

Santosh Manjhi said that JDU wants us to merge HAM with them. But we do not accept this. We would rather like to fight alone. We do not like to merge with JDU. Nitish Kumar was constantly asking us to merge, but we refused. Santosh Suman said, whether we will go with BJP is a different matter.
