Mumbai: Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) on Saturday informed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde would take care of the children who lost both of their parents in the Irshalwadi village landslide.
According to information, Doctor Shinde Foundation, an NGO run by CM’s son will look after the orphaned children.
“Doctor Shrikant Shinde Foundation has decided to support all the orphans in Irshalwadi. Although time has dealt a great blow to the children here, it has been decided to give them the strength to survive. The foundation is taking responsibility for the education and upbringing of these children,” said the foundation.
Meanwhile, the death toll from a landslide in Raigad’s Irshalwadi village reached 22.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continued their rescue and search work at the incident site. As per reports one team of NDRF reached Irshawadi early morning and other groups joined the search operation later.
Earlier, In the early hours of Thursday, a massive landslide struck Irshalwadi village in the Khalapur tehsil of Raigad district.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally visited the site to supervise the rescue and relief efforts. State ministers Uday Samant and Dada Bhuse were already present at the scene when the CM arrived.
The unrelenting rainfall in the state capital, Mumbai, and neighbouring districts like Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Palghar had raised concerns. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings of further heavy downpours expected throughout the week in several districts.
