The doctor stated that the accused attempted to rape her but she managed to escape and alert the security staff.
The accused is an undertrial prisoner and is in jail in rape case. The victim was a resident doctor and had treated the accused earlier.
“This is a very serious matter and raises the issue of safety and security of the women staff working in jails especially where male inmates are housed,” the notice stated.
The DCW, through the notice, has also sought to know the steps taken by authorities to ensure the safety of its female staff in Delhi jails and details of the Internal Complaints Committee constituted for each jail in Delhi.
The jail authorities have been asked to submit the response by October 3, DCW said.
