Uttrakhand: In the wake of the incessant rainfall in Uttrakhand, fresh cracks have emerged in Joshimath, instilling fear among the town’s residents. The precarious situation has escalated concerns as the state grapples with the ongoing downpours.
Fresh Cracks in Joshimath
According to PTI, the condition is particularly dire in Sunil village within Joshimath, where 16 families are facing significant risks. The emergence of these cracks raises the alarming prospect of a substantial landslide in the area.

As heavy rainfall persists, the situation in hill states is progressively worsening. The downpours have unleashed havoc in Uttarakhand, resulting in landslides across the mountains, building collapses, and roads transforming into rushing rivers. Amidst the relentless rain, a distressing video capturing a college collapsing under the weight of the water surge has emerged and circulated on the Internet.
PM Modi Expresses Concern
Speaking from the Red Fort’s historic ramparts on the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his distress regarding the devastating impact of heavy rainfall in various states. PM Modi further assured the nation that both the Central and state governments are committed to aiding affected families during these times of crisis, facilitating their recovery and the chance to rebuild their lives.

Weather Department Issues Red Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours across multiple regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In response to this weather prediction, the Met department has issued a red alert for both these hilly states, which is anticipated to gradually shift to an orange alert as conditions evolve.
