New Delhi: After taking over charge as Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday held his first meeting with party leaders and constituted the Steering Committee.

This committee will function in place of the Congress Working Committee. This includes former PM Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rajiv Shukla and other senior Congress leaders.

The Congress Steering Committee also includes Raghubir Meena, P L Punia, Raghu Sharma, H K Patil, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Harish Chaudhary, Jai Prakash Aggrawal, K H Muniyappa, Manish Chatrath, Meira Kumar, etc.

Mallikarjun Kharge took charge as the National President of Congress today. Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who was present during this, said “I congratulate newly elected Congress president Kharge Ji from the bottom of my heart. I express gratitude (towards the vote of thanks ).”

“Kharge Ji is an experienced leader. He has reached this destiny from being a common party worker to Congress president through his hard work. He is going to be an inspiration to the party workers, Sonia Gandhi said, expressing that now she is feeling relieved.
