Congress appoints new chief in Gujarat, Puducherry; Delhi, Haryana in-charge also changed

New Delhi: Indian national congress on Friday appointed Shakti Singh Gohil as the president of the Gujarat unit of the Congress.
Considering the 2024 general election in mind, Congress not only change the Gujarat Congress chief but made strategic changes in Delhi, Haryana, and Mumbai as well.
The party-appointed Deepak Bawariya as in charge of the Delhi Congress and Haryana Congress and V Vaithilingam has been designated as the president of the Puducherry unit.
In a big change, Varsha Gaikwad has been given command of President of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee.
According to party sources, the central leadership of the Congress called leaders from these states for discussions to change the leadership role. On Thursday, top Congress top party leaders of Gujarat Arjun Modhwadia, Amit Chavda, Shailesh Parmar, Siddharth Patel and Deepak Babaria reached Delhi to meet the central leadership.
Earlier, Jagdish Thakor was the President of Gujarat Congress.
The official statement of the Congress said that the party appreciates the contribution of the outgoing presidents of PCC/RCC. Earlier, Jagdish Thakor was handling the responsibility of Gujarat Congress President, Puducherry Congress President AV Subramaniam and Mumbai Regional Congress Committee President Bhai Jagtap.
