Lucknow: The MP MLA court in Ghazipur on Saturday convicted the jailed mafia Mukhtar Ansari in a gangster case. The court sentenced Mukhtar Ansari to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
The hearing in the case was completed on April 1 in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Durgesh Kumar. After this, the court had reserved its decision. Earlier, the verdict was to to come on April 15, but later the court fixed 29 of April for it.
What Was the matter?
In the 2007 Krishnanand Rai murder case and in the 1996 coal baron Nandkishore Rungta abduction-murder case of Chandasi in Chandauli district, the Mohdabad police prepared a gang chart. It is alleged that in the year 1996, Mukhtar Ansari had abducted coal trader Nandkishore Rungta of Chandasi Koyla Mandi from his henchman Ataur Rahman alias Babu alias Sikandar. After the kidnapping, a ransom of Rs 3 crore was demanded from the businessman. Later the coal merchant was murdered, but no solid evidence was found against Mukhtar in this case.
At the same time, in the year 2007, 7 people including BJP leader Krishnanand Rai were killed in AK 47 firing at Basaniya Chatti in the Mohammadabad police station area of Ghazipur district. Afzal Ansari, Mukhtar and Ejazul Haque were booked under the Gangster Act in the case.
The court is set to deliver its verdict on Mukhtar’s brother Afzal Ansari.
