A 21-year-old B.Tech student from Bengaluru was arrested for allegedly recording videos inside the women’s restroom at his college. The suspect, identified as Kushal K, is a final-year computer science student from Chikkagollarahatti, near Magadi. The incident unfolded at around 10:45 AM, drawing significant attention from students and faculty alike.
Discovery Of The Disturbing Act
It came about when Kushal’s mobile phone stood strategically near a bathroom stall. A woman screamed, causing some of the students sitting nearby to move towards her source of alarm. They found one of the bathrooms locked and called out but received no answer. The suspicion grew, as they ultimately opened the door and saw Kushal inside along with the mobile. The device was taken back from them.
One student still recalls the incident where they took Kushal to the principal and told him that he was recording videos in the washroom. He confessed to it. Most of the students were already in classes when the news began to spread; soon after, many huge crowds erupted out of their classrooms and started protesting against Kushal.
Protests And Police Response
As the protest turned more militant for severe punishment of Kushal, two police platoons arrived on the spot to manage the unrest. The college authorities handed Kushal over to the Kumbalagodu police immediately after the demonstration. An investigating officer said that a review of Kushal’s phone has yielded two videos recorded between 10:30 and 10:45 AM. The phone is being sent to forensics for analysis.
As of now, the investigation is in progress. The girl who heard the knocking sound reacted by opening up the camera in the restroom of that particular hotel. Section 77 of the BNS Act has been filed for FIR as it deals with viewers and invading ladies’ privacy.
