Baba Ramdev: During a yoga camp in Thane, Maharashtra, yesterday, a yoga teacher made a comment about women’s clothing that ignited a scandal. He asserted that ladies look wonderful in sarees, salwar suits, and even in plain clothes. Political figures and the general public criticised him for his remark, and TMC’s Mahua Moitra attacked the yoga instructor harshly to denounce it.
When pointing out that many of the attendees packed sarees but did not have time to wear them due to back-to-back activities, the yoga teacher replied, “You look good in sarees, you look good in salwar suits like Amruta ji, and you look good when like me you wear nothing.”
Ramdev was attacked by TMC MP Mahua Moitra, who brought up the incident from 2011 in which he was apprehended by police while attempting to flee while dressed as a woman.
“Now I know why Patanjali baba ran away from Ramlila Maidan in women’s clothes. He says he likes sarees, salwars and ……” the Lok Sabha member tweeted. “Clearly got a strabismus in his brain that makes his views so lop-sided.”
When protests were taking place in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan in 2011, Baba Ramdev attempted to flee while dressed as a lady. He was dramatic captured doing this. He was apprehended outside the demonstration site while pretending to be an injured woman and wearing a white salwar suit with a dupatta over his head.
The head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, also denounced the comment and demanded an apology.

“Swami Ramdev’s remarks on women in front of the wife of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra are indecent and condemnable. All women have been hurt by this statement, Baba Ramdevji should apologise to the country for this statement!” Swati Maliwal tweeted.
