New Delhi: An Army vehicle moving between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in the Rajouri sector in Jammu and Kashmir caught fire due to firing by unidentified terrorists, informed Indian Army.
According to officials, 5 security personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for a counter-terror operation lost their lives in the deadly incident. Another seriously injured jawan was evacuated and shifted to the Army hospital in Rajouri and is under treatment.
As per Army, the fire incident was caused due to likely use of grenades by terrorists.
According to the news agency ANI, Army Chief General Manoj Pande briefed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the same.
Defence Minister himself expressed his anguish via a tweet.
“Anguished by the tragedy in Poonch District (J&K), where the Indian Army has lost its brave soldiers after a truck caught fire. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the bereaved families,” said
