New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chaddha on Friday said that Congress had sent an invitation to AAP for a second meeting of opposition parties which is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru next week. But, AAP would decide only after Congress clear its stand on the Centre’s Ordinance.
AAP leader said that Congress had promised to clear their views on the issue of the Ordinance 15 days prior to the commencement of the Monsoon Session.
“During the Patna opposition meets, in front of all like-minded parties, the Congress party had said that they will clear their stand on the Delhi ordinance, 15 days prior to commencement of the Parliament monsoon session…we’re hoping they will do that soon and all further conversation will only happen after their formal announcement…,” said Raghav Chaddha.
15 Parties Extended Support
A total of 15 parties are attending the like-minded party meeting in Patna, out of which 12 have representation in the Rajya Sabha, Except, the Indian National Congress, all other 11 parties, which have representation in the Rajya Sabha, have clearly expressed their stand against the Black Ordinance and announced that they would oppose it in the Rajya Sabha, Aam Aadmi Party said in a statement after the meeting of opposition parties concluded in Patna.
Meeting was delayed due to Political drama in Maharashtra
Last week, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal informed that the new date of the crucial meeting would be announced after consulting with all the stakeholders.
“We will declare the date very soon. We are talking to all political parties and the date will be announced without any delay,” said the Congress leader.
However, the Congress leader said the meeting will be held before the Monsoon Session of the Parliament begins. It is worth noting that the Monsoon Session, scheduled to commence on July 20, will be held in the newly-inaugurated Parliament building.
The development came in after Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) leader Ajit Pawar and 8 colleagues joined the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government. While Pawar was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, the other MLAs took oath as ministers.
The action initiated tension among the NCP top leadership and Ajit Pawar. Soon after the development NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, in a press conference, said that he would rebuild the party again.
The First meeting of key opposition parties was held in Bihar’s capital Patna on June 23. Sixteen Parties including Congress, TMC, DMK, JD(U), and Samajwadi Party sat together in Bihar’s capital to decide a roadmap to fight against BJP in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
