New Delhi: A 54-year-old woman died after being hit by a semi high-speed Vande Bharat Express train near the Anand railway station in Gujarat.

The deceased, identified as Beatrice Archibald Peter, was crossing the track near Anand railway station, when the accident took place at 4.37 pm. She was visiting a relative at Anand, news agency PTI reported citing police as saying on Tuesday.

The train was on its way to Mumbai Central from Gandhinagar Capital station. It does not have a halt at Anand railway station.

The official said that an investigation is underway.
