New Delhi: If you don’t feel like cooking, we often rely on food delivery apps like Zomato or Swiggy. These food delivery apps are popular across the country, especially on the phones of women. If you order food from Zomato, here’s some good news for you. The company has introduced a new update on its app for users.

You’ll get 4 different carts:

Previously, there were instances where certain items were not available in a particular restaurant, and we had to place a separate order to get those items. This was not possible on Zomato simultaneously, which could be frustrating at times. However, the company has now come up with a solution, and you can order food from 4 different restaurants at the same time. It means you can choose different restaurants in each cart. After ordering something from each cart, you can make the payment for all at once and finalize the orders. After ordering food, you can also track each order separately.

Competition between Zomato and Swiggy:

In the food delivery market, Zomato and Swiggy are the two major players, with a market value of around 5 billion dollars. Currently, Zomato holds a 55% market share, while Swiggy holds 45%. However, in 2020, Swiggy was at the top with a 52% market share, which has now fallen behind. Over the past three years, Swiggy’s market share has been consistently declining, causing losses to the company. Despite Swiggy’s revenue increasing from $600 million to approximately $900 million in the fiscal year 2023, the company is still facing losses. During the same period, Swiggy’s losses amounted to around $545 million, while Zomato’s losses were around $110 million. There is intense competition between both companies, and they continuously bring new updates to lure their customers.
