As per a recent news report nearly 90 smartphone users have been reportedly targeted by hackers using spyware, according to what’s App. The victims of the hacking were general public, Journalists and a few other users who were of significant importance.
The users were targeted by a hacking tool by Paragon Solutions, an Israeli company that specializes in hacking software. The important aspect of the hacking scandal has been that the paragon software is only available for government use and how such a software was used to hack into phones without any approval or link clicks remains to be a mystery. The threat has been reported by WhatsApp itself to Reuters, What’s App had intercepted an effort to hack approximately about 90 users.
How Were The Phones Hacked Without A Single Click
The users phone were at the danger of being hacked even after they had clicked at no malicious links. As per experts such hacking techniques allow the users to access target phones without any interaction from the victim. Such threats highlight the growing ricks of spyware and threats that do not require any interaction from the users. The What’s App Official told Reuters that the users were sent malicious electronic documents that required no user interaction to compromise them.
Hackers Targeted Journalists And Society Members
Hackers targeted journalists and normal users, in more than two dozen countries, including several people in Europe. What’s App has been dismissive of the fact how they were able to recognize how the attack came from Paragon. They reported how law enforcement and industry partners were informed but declined to give details beyond that. Citizen Lab Researcher reported that such issues are a reminder that such mercenary spyware continues to Proliferate, and the watchdogs continue to be vigilant about familiar patterns and problematic use of such spyware to recognize the appearance of such patterns.
