In a blog post, Microsoft announced that they would be rolling out these new features to all users in a gradual manner. These features also include tools exclusive to Copilot Plus personal computers. Users would now be able to access Copilot Vision through the Copilot app and have AI analyze the content visible on your screen.

Once it does so, you can ask questions out aloud on what’s on the screen or across multiple apps and webpages that are open. That’s not all. Users can now also ask Copilot to complete specific tasks on the PC such as enhancing the lighting on a picture. So, no more need for an image optimizer on enhance to do up that party picture the previous weekend!

Microsoft claims in the blog post that a new consumer AI report it had commissioned showed that nearly 60% of people report using generative AI for work and business purposes in the past year. Even more (64%) report using AI for hobbies and personal interests like art, music and DIY projects.

“As the world adapts to this new era of AI infused with daily life, Windows is here to meet you where you are, with intuitive experiences built in to make what you already do on your PC even easier,” Microsoft says in the post, which also notes that users having Snapdragon-powered Copilot Plus PCs can now access the AI agent via the Settings app.

Another important new feature is that the AI-powered “Click to Do” preview could turn into a useful tool for those with Copilot Plus PCs. The feature fires up with one holds down the Windows key and left-clicks on an app or a website or even some text. Using the feature, one can complete actions such as summarising a paragraph, enhance reading fluency and pronunciation capability etc.

Other features that are getting rolled out include a new AI-powered sticker generator in Paint and an object select tool that would allow users to separate and edit specific parts of an image. Additionally, there is a new AI lighting option in Photos and a perfect screenshot tool that uses AI to precisely capture content on the screen.

Most of these features would start rolling out in August when Microsoft is also releasing some features that aren’t related to AI. These include a colour picker within the Snipping Tool and a mechanism that allows PCs to auto-fix issues that causes unexpected restarts. Of course, one would have to wait and see how the latter works. It has seldom done so in the past.
