WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that will allow users to easily mention all members of a group chat in one go. The feature is being rolled out as part of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.32.9) and is currently available to some beta testers via the Google Play Store.
This feature was previously spotted in development and now appears within the mentions menu. By using this new shortcut, users will be able to alert every member of the group, ensuring that important messages don’t go unnoticed—even if members have muted group notifications.
Notification Control for Users
WhatsApp is reportedly also testing another setting that will allow users to mute @all mentions, giving them better control—especially useful for those who are part of multiple active groups. This will help users stay informed about significant messages without being overwhelmed by constant notifications and updates.
How Will the New Feature Work?
The new @all feature enables users to mention every individual in a group conversation without tagging each person separately.
This command is being developed to enhance communication within large groups, where messages often get lost amid high activity. It will be particularly useful in professional teams, communities, and families that need to share important information efficiently.
According to WABetaInfo, in small groups, every participant will be able to use the @all feature. However, in groups with more than 32 participants, only admins will have access to this functionality.
Rollout Timeline
The feature is currently rolling out to beta testers and is expected to reach more users over the next few weeks. Beyond that, WhatsApp plans to release a stable build for all Android users, followed by iOS.
These updates are part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve group communication by balancing convenience and user control.
