WhatsApp Introduces Filter And Background Feature: Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has unveiled filter and background feature for video calls. “Conversations on WhatsApp should always feel fun and expressive and today, we’re rolling out filters and backgrounds to make your video calls even more engaging,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.

With new feature, users can change background or add a filter during a video call. WhatsApp said, “Filters are designed to help you create a more playful atmosphere.” With backgrounds, users can keep their surroundings private.

This feature allow users to take up a cozy coffee shop or comfortable living room in their background.

Filter And Background Feature: What’ New?

Users will get the option of 10 filters and 10 backgrounds to choose from. Users can select and mix a wide range of options to create a unique look.

Filter options include Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light leak, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass and Duo tone.  

Background options consists of Blur, Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration and Forest.

WhatsApp is also adding Touch up and Low Light options for the users. This will naturally enhance the look and brightness users’ environment.

How It Works?

During video calls, users will have to select the effects icons on top right of the screen to see the options of filters and backgrounds. Users can than choose the option that suits their mood.

“These effects will be available to everyone in the coming weeks,” said WhatsApp.
