WhatsApp challenges YouTube with a new feature which is rolling out for iPhone users. WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature that allows iOS users to control the playback speed of any video, a feature similar to YouTube. “The official changelog mentions that videos now include the ability to adjust playback speed, offering three options: normal, fast (1.5x), and faster (2.0x),” reported WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp challenges YouTube with the new feature. This feature will enable users to greater flexibility when watching videos. WhatsApp will allow users to speed-up the long videos to save time. Notably, WhatsApp’s video playback controls feature is available for iOS users who install the latest update of WhatsApp from the App Store.
WhatsApp is also rolling out a picture-in-picture feature for videos, reported WABetaInfo. “This mode allows users to resize the video window and move it around the screen, providing flexibility in how they interact with both the video and their conversations,” said WABetaInfo.
Users can easily enable this mode by a button located next to the playback bar. WABetaInfo further said, “After enabling the picture-in-picture mode, users can continue chatting, sending messages, or even browsing through other chats and apps while the video plays in the corner of the screen.”
“The picture-in-picture window also features essential playback controls, including the ability to skip forward, skip backward, and pause the video,” reported WABetaInfo.
The picture-in-picture window also features essential playback controls. This feature is expected to support iOS 14 and later versions.
