Meta rolled out chatbots powered by its Llama-3 AI model to WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger in multiple markets in the previous months. The Meta AI chatbot possesses all the general text-based capabilities of a large language model and has the ability to generate images as well. Now, the company is deploying a similar AI assistant for WhatsApp Business users.
In a newsroom post, Meta stated, “We’re training AI to respond to the most popular questions businesses receive on WhatsApp, enabling them to quickly assist customers in finding the answers they’re seeking.” This suggests that the feature won’t simply send out pre-written responses but will intelligently offer assistance tailored to the needs and requirements of the customer. Additionally, it can be utilized for marketing products and services to individuals who might be interested in them. The company aims to innovate communication automation with AI technology to foster greater reliance on their services by businesses.

Meta is now rolling out Meta Verified badges to WhatsApp Business accounts after introducing them on Facebook and Instagram. These badges, denoted by a white checkmark within a green starburst circle, will signify businesses registered with Meta and receiving advanced account support. They will appear on both the WhatsApp Channel and custom WhatsApp pages for businesses. The rollout has commenced in India, Brazil, Indonesia, and Colombia.
