A major Cloudflare outage on Friday caused widespread disruptions across many popular platforms, including Amazon, Instagram, Zerodha, Angel One, Groww, X, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Canva, Jio, Airtel, Facebook, Shopify, Zoom, YouTube, Google Meet, and many others.
Users reported being unable to access services or facing slow loading and repeated error messages.
What Is Cloudflare?
Cloudflare is one of the world’s largest internet operating companies. It supports millions of websites by improving their speed, security, and reliability.
Its global network helps websites to load faster through its Content Delivery Network (CDN), block harmful or suspicious traffic, handle heavy visitor loads, stay online during cyberattacks, and manage DNS and route data efficiently.
Because Cloudflare sits between users and a website’s server, many organisations rely on it to keep their platforms stable, especially during peak traffic or security threats.
Why Cloudflare’s Outage Affected Major Platforms?
Today, thousands of users reported issues across different apps and websites. According to Downdetector, Cloudflare received nearly 675 outage complaints around 2:50 pm, with 68% related to website access failures, 24% linked to server connection issues, and 9% connected to hosting problems.
Websites and platforms that use Cloudflare’s services include Coinbase, Amazon, OpenAI, Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, MakeMyTrip, Perplexity, and many more.
Cloudflare’s Statement on the Outage
Cloudflare stated the network’s second outage in less than three weeks, saying, “We are investigating issues with the Cloudflare Dashboard and related APIs. Customers using the Dashboard or Cloudflare APIs are impacted, as requests may fail and errors might appear.”
The company later confirmed, “We have implemented a fix and are now monitoring the results.”
