Putting an end to all the rumours and speculations, Apple finally introduced its iPhone 16 series and other products to the world on September 9 at the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event. iPhone 16 undoubtedly gives stiff competition to some of the best Android phones. However, it has been ‘borrowing’ many things from the Android. Not just iPhone 16, the Apple Watch Series 10, launched at the Apple event, has also followed the suit. Let’s have a look at everything the newly launched iPhone 16 and Apple Watch 10 Series have ‘stolen’ from Android.
Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra: Sleep Apnea Detection
Samsung was a month ahead of Apple in introducing the Sleep Apnea detection feature. The feature that Apple introduced with the launch of Watch Series 10, was already there on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. Samsung is expected to introduce this feature on the Galaxy Watch 6 series.
Garmin, COROS, and others: Training Load
Apple describes the ‘Training Load’ feature as “an insightful new way to measure how the intensity and duration of workouts impact a user’s body over time.” However, it is not a new thing in the wearable world as companies like Garmin and COROS are already offering the same on their smartwatches.
HTC EVO 3D: Dedicated ‘Camera Control’ Button
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max cameras now come with Spatial Audio Recording but this is not the latest feature Apple has borrowed from a 7 years old phone. All the iPhone 16 phones now get a Camera Control button. However, the iPhone 16 uses a capacitive button instead the dedicated camera buttons offered by EVO 3D and other Android phones.
Google Lens and Circle to Search: Visual Intelligence
Google’s Circle to Search is among the most popular features introduced to Android this year. Here’s how it works- if you want instant information about something, you simple need to circle it on your display. It is basically Google Lens’ supercharged version.
Apple introduced the ‘Visual Intelligence’ during the recent iPhone 16 launch event. Shruti Shekar, Android Central Editor in Chief, described it as being “like an amalgamation of Circle to Search and Lens.”
Samsung and Sony: Record videos in 4K/120fps
Apple introduced 4K video recording at 120fps during the iPhone 16 launch event. Although it’s a great addition for people fond of capturing videos on their iPhones, but Apple isn’t the first to introduce this feature. It was first introduced with Sony’s Xperia 5 Mark IV in 2022, and later arrived on Galaxy S25 Ultra and Vivo X100 Ultra.
