Apple recently rolled out the iOS 26 update to all users, which features several significant visual changes. However, since the update, many users have been reporting minor lags and bugs during daily use. The new Liquid Glass interface introduced with iOS 26 is still a new experience for many users, and it’s common for Apple to experience some technical glitches in early builds. The silver lining is that iOS 18.6.2 is still being signed by Apple.
This means that if a user is dissatisfied with iOS 26, they can revert to the previous version. However, downgrading is not an easy process. According to a WCCFtech report, users must proceed with caution and the correct methods. Also, keep in mind that all iPhone data will be deleted during the downgrade, so be sure to back up any important files like photos, notes, and voice memos beforehand.
Here are the Steps to install iOS 18.6.2:
Step 1 –
For this you need to Back up data via iCloud, Finder on Mac, or iTunes on Windows. For the safety purpose one can create multiple backups.
Step 2 –
Apart from this one can Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings. The Apple users can sign out of Apple ID to prevent Activation Lock issues.
Step 3 –
Next, download the iOS 18.6.2 IPSW file from Apple’s official website or IPSW.me. Make sure to choose the correct file for your specific iPhone model and verify that it’s still being signed by Apple.
Step 4 –
Use a USB-C or Lightning cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac or Windows PC. Ensure that Finder (on Mac) or iTunes (on Windows) recognizes your device before proceeding.
Step 5 –
Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button. Next, press and hold the Side button until the screen turns black. As soon as it does, press and hold the Volume Down button while still holding the Side button for 5 seconds. After that, release the Side button but continue holding Volume Down until your device appears in Finder.
Step 6 –
After this one needs to begin with the restore process. For Mac, open Finder then hold Option key, and click Restore iPhone.
For Windows, use iTunes then hold Shift, then click Restore. Select the iOS 18.6.2 IPSW file you downloaded earlier.
Step 7 –
Once you complete the process then you need to wait for the process to finish. After this the iphone will get restarted multiple times.
Step 8 –
Once the above mentioned process is completed then you can restore the data or you can start with the fresh Iphone.
