Elon Musk has told on Twitter that this step has been taken to solve the problem of third-party data scraping from the platform. Musk said that excessive data scraping is negatively impacting the service for regular users. He wrote that this is a temporary emergency measure.
Embedded tweets affected
According to the company, the move not only prevents users from unrestricted access but also prevents tweets from appearing in “most chat apps” in which they are embedded.
