Twitter’s new rule: Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, he has been making many changes to Twitter’s features. Meanwhile, he has announced another change. Twitter has made it mandatory that users must sign in to an account if they want to access tweets on the platform. Whereas, earlier this was not the case. Users could see tweets without having any account.
What did Musk say?
Elon Musk has told on Twitter that this step has been taken to solve the problem of third-party data scraping from the platform. Musk said that excessive data scraping is negatively impacting the service for regular users. He wrote that this is a temporary emergency measure.
Embedded tweets affected
According to the company, the move not only prevents users from unrestricted access but also prevents tweets from appearing in “most chat apps” in which they are embedded.
“Almost every company uses AI to complete their work. BE it startups or the largest corporations, They were scraping massive amounts of data from Twitter, said Twitter.
The move is believed to make it harder for scrapers like ChatGPT’s web browser plugin to grab Twitter’s data. Musk has previously expressed displeasure at companies such as ChatGPT maker OpenAI using Twitter’s data to train their large language models. He has said, “We will definitely take legal action against those who stole our data.
