Which country could become future king of AI?
According to the AI Superpower Ranking 2025, America maintains the top position, while India has secured the sixth spot. In this list, Saudi Arabia is placed in third position. A few would have guessed that a country mostly associated with oil and energy might dominate the future of artificial intelligence. Yes, Saudi Arabia, with its massive investment plan, national strategy for Data and AI, and creation of futuristic tech hubs, could potentially emerge as a frontrunner in the world of AI.
Master Investment Plan
According to reports, Saudi Arabia has launched a $6 billion data ecosystem master plan. Humain, a Saudi intelligence company, is reportedly seeking to build a data center capacity with unlimited land and vast power resources. It holds the potential to transform the country into a digital processing powerhouse.
Big tech giants like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft have made major investments in Saudi artificial intelligence infrastructure. AWS alone has reportedly invested $5.3 billion.
The striking part of the country’s hugely ambitious Vision 2030 is NEOM. This $500bn megaproject in the desert is designed to run on 100% renewable energy. According to reports, it will house next-generation supercomputers, AI labs, and green hydrogen plants.
