Casey is the co-founder of Thoughtly. The picture in question shows Mackrell working on a laptop at his own wedding as guests enjoyed a dance. The picture was first posted by Mackrell’s fellow co-founder Torrey Leonard on LinkedIn.
As soon as Leonard posted the picture, it sparked a widespread on the Internet with users not impressed with the idea.
“My co-founder Casey has built a reputation for himself as ‘the guy who sits on his laptop in bars’ from SF to NYC,” Leonard post on LinkedIn read. “Last week Thoughtly brought on a customer that needed to launch within 2 weeks. He [Casey] just so happened to be getting married within that 2 week window… So, here he is wrapping up a pull request. At his own wedding,” read Leonard’s post.
“Congrats Casey- now please, go take some time off,” said Leonard. Several users criticized Leonard’s post on social media.

“I don’t know what’s worse: the people who asked him to work on his wedding or the fact it was posted on LinkedIn as somehow a motivation or inspiring,” wrote a user on X.
“This is wildly embarrassing for you and your company,” wrote a user on Leonard’s LinkedIn post. One user said, “This isn’t the flex you think it is.”
An user even commented, “Divorce lawyers must be salivating.” While, the another user wrote, “Divorce mode is the new founder mode.”
However, few social media users find it inspiring. One user wrote, “True dedication! Kudos to Casey’s commitment.” “Inspiring,” commented another user on Leonard’s LinkedIn post.
