New Delhi: Apple is now selling all its products through its own e-retail platform and authorized resellers in India. Now, a new report says that the company’s list of authorized dealers in India will soon get longer as Tata Group plans to join the fold soon.

According to a report by the economic Times Telecom, the Tata Group is in talks with Apple to open exclusive Apple Stores across the country. The iPhone maker is reportedly tying up with Tata Group’s Infini Retail, the company that runs Croma stores across the country, to bring small exclusive Apple stores across the country.

Sources familiar with the development said the Tata Group has started talks with high streets and premium malls across the country for space to open its Apple authorized stores. These discussions include not only retail space leasing details, but also stores and companies that cannot open their own stores near an Apple Authorized Store.

Apple, for its part, has reportedly informed its retail partners that its company-owned stores typically drive sales at its authorized retail partners — a trend it expects to see in India as well. However, neither Apple nor the Tata Group have yet commented on the matter.

Apple Stores in India

Interestingly, the news comes at a time when Apple plans to open its first brick-and-mortar store, the Apple Store in India. It was earlier reported that Apple will open its first offline store in India sometime in 2022. Later, a report by The Economic Times said that Apple has postponed the opening of its first offline store in India to 2023.

Now, the first Apple Store is expected to open sometime between January and March in Mumbai, where the company has taken about 22,000 square feet of space near the Bandra-Kurla complex.

The company plans to open its second Apple Store in New Delhi, where the company has taken up around 12,000 square feet of space. Apart from Mumbai and New Delhi, Apple is also expected to open its official stores in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
