Snapchat is introducing charges for users who store over 5GB of content in its Memories feature. The update, part of a global rollout, affects those who have amassed large collections of photos and videos since Memories launched in 2016.
Here’s the Plan Price in India
The Snapchat Memories plan in India will cost INR 99 per month and will include 1TB of storage.
Under the new plan, the base subscription costs $1.99 per month for 100GB of storage, while the Snapchat+ plan offers 250GB at $3.99 per month, according to a company spokesperson. UK pricing for these plans is yet to be announced. Users exceeding 5GB will be given 12 months of temporary storage before they must either pay or download their content.

Snapchat said moving to a paid model will help improve the feature and continue investing in its development.
“These changes will allow us to continue to invest in making Memories better for our entire community,” the company said in a blog post. It admitted the switch from free to paid storage “is never easy”, but argued it would be “worth the cost” for heavy users.
Experts suggest more platforms will move in the same direction. Drew Benvie, CEO of consultancy Battenhall, said, “The road to paying for storage on social media is inevitable. In an era where we post less, but save more, this is an evolution of messaging and social media platforms.”
But the announcement upset people online, with many saying Snapchat is being “greedy” and pointing out that longtime users might have to keep paying more.
