Disappointing news for Gen Z, who spend a lot of time on Snapchat! The platform will now charge users for storing more than 5GB of content in its Memories feature. Snapchat was launched in 2016, and since then, it has offered storage of photos and videos under Memories for free. The content is originally shared for just 24 hours. However, now users will need to subscribe after their 5GB limit is exhausted to continue accessing their saved content.
“When we first launched Memories, we never expected it to grow to what it has become today,” Snapchat said in a statement. “We want to make sure that our community can continue to store all of their Memories over the long term, so we are introducing new Memories Storage Plans to support Snapchatters with more than 5GB of Memories.”
Snapchat has introduced new “Memories Storage Plans,” offering 100GB or 250GB of storage. To access this, users need to subscribe through the Snapchat+ monthly plan. Meanwhile, there is also a Platinum plan, offering a massive 5TB of storage.
Snapchat storage plans and pricing
100GB storage plan: $1.99 per month (around Rs 165)
Snapchat+ with 250GB storage: $3.99 per month (around Rs 330)

Meanwhile, there is some relief, as Snapchat will provide 12 months of temporary storage to users who exceed the free storage limit. During this time, they can either download their content or opt for a paid subscription. Many users may prefer not to subscribe. Here are the steps to save your Memories content directly to your device:
Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your device.
Step 2: Go to ‘Memories’ by tapping the photo icon.
Step 3: Press and hold the Snap or Snaps you wish to download.
Step 4: Tap ‘Export’.
Step 5: Choose the location where you want to save your Snap.
