Samsung is all set to launch its all-new trifold smartphone this year. While the brand has not officially revealed the launch date, rumours suggest the new phone will be called the Galaxy Z Trifold. A patent recently revealed by KIPRIS confirms that the Trifold will pack three batteries.
As per the design drawings that have surfaced online, the phone will have three segments, and each of them will house a battery cell. The patent document reveals that the smallest battery (T1) is placed inside the segment housing the triple rear cameras, while the second-largest battery (T3) is inside the segment containing the cover display. The largest battery (T2) is placed in the segment that will be sandwiched between the other two when the Trifold is folded.

While the patent doesn’t disclose the individual battery capacities or charging speeds, the fact that it packs three batteries hints at a major upgrade over the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which featured a rather limited 4,400mAh battery and just 25W wired charging support — relatively underwhelming compared to the competition.

A recent report from GSMArena also revealed that the Galaxy Z Trifold will not be exclusive to South Korea and China, and may eventually launch in the US as well. It’s expected to debut towards the end of this month.
Beyond the Trifold, Samsung is also expected to launch a new Android XR headset. Pre-registrations for the headset are set to begin from October 25 and will continue until October 31.
