Vi (Vodafone Idea) is making waves in the prepaid market with two new plans that bundle Netflix subscriptions. But before you get excited, it’s important to understand these plans aren’t offering Netflix completely free. Let’s break it down.
Vi introduces two prepaid options: a Rs. 998 plan and a Rs. 1,099 plan (applicable only in Gujarat and Mumbai circles). Both offer 70 days validity (except the Mumbai/Gujarat plan), unlimited calling, 100 SMS daily, and 1.5GB of daily data. The star attraction, however, is the bundled Netflix Basic subscription, valid for the same duration as the plan.
Here’s the catch: the bundled subscription is for the Basic plan, which allows streaming on only one device at a time and in standard definition only. You’re essentially paying for both the recharge and Netflix access within the plan. Once the plan expires, you’ll need to recharge with another bundled plan or subscribe to Netflix directly if you want to keep using the service.
