Doordarshan, India’s national broadcaster, launches its OTT platform, ‘WAVES’. WAVES blends nostalgia with cutting-edge digital content, featuring timeless classics alongside modern programming. The platform boasts an extensive library of iconic Indian shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shaktimaan, and Hum Log, evoking cultural nostalgia and emotional ties to India’s heritage, alongside news, documentaries, and regional programming.

‘WAVES’ will offer content in more than 12 languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Assamese. The content will be spread across 10+ Genres of Infotainment. The platform will provide Video on demand, free-to-play gaming, Radio streaming, Live TV streaming, 65 live channels, several Apps in App integrations for video and gaming content, and online shopping through Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) supported e-commerce platform.

The platform will also offer its platform to content creators, including National Creator Awardees like Kamiya Jani, RJ Raunac, Shraddha Sharma and others. The platform has opened its portal to student graduation films of film and media colleges like FTII, Annapurna, and AAFT. ‘WAVES’ brings exclusive LIVE events, including the revered Prabhu Shriram Lalla Aarti from Ayodhya and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly Mann ki Baat address.
Additionally, ‘WAVES’ to broadcast US Premier League Cricket Tournament LIVE, beginning November 22, 2024. Meanwhile, WAVES also offers a lineup of popular animation shows, including Doggy Adventure, Chota Bheem, Tenaliram, and Akbar Birbal, plus engaging games like Krishna Jump, Fruit Chef, and Ram the Yodha.
The platform joins forces with CDAC and MeitY to launch a nationwide Cyber Security awareness campaign, featuring daily video messages.
WAVES’ diverse content lineup includes notable titles such as “Monkey King: The Hero is Back,” “Fouja”, “Armaan”, “Bhed Bharam”, “Thode Door Thode Paas”, “Bharat ka Amrit Kalash”, “Sarpanch”, “BeCubed”, “Corporate Sarpanch”, “Dashmi”, “Kariathi”, and “Jaanki.”
