No Calls, No Chats! These 3 Mistakes Could Get Your WhatsApp Account Permanently Banned

WhatsApp banned 76 lakh accounts in India in 2024, to combat abuse and comply with IT Rules 2021.

WhatsApp is a widely popular platform used by millions worldwide. Each month, the app welcomes thousands of new users for both personal and business purposes. However, there is another which needed attention in the present. Every month lakhs of accounts are also getting deleted due to the misuse and third party apps inteference. According to The Times Of India Report, WhatsApp banned 76 lakh accounts in India in 2024, to combat abuse and comply with IT Rules 2021. Meta-owned, it proactively banned 7,628,000 accounts in February, emphasizing safety features and a dedicated expert team for abuse detection.

Why WhatsApp Is Banning Accounts

Many users opt for third-party apps instead of the official WhatsApp application. Popular alternatives like WhatsApp Delta, GBWhatsApp, and WhatsApp Plus may seem appealing, but WhatsApp strictly prohibits their use. According to WhatsApp, these altered versions of the messaging are developed by the third parties where the company says it cannot validate their security practices. These third party apps violate the rules of original WhatsApp. If you use these unofficial apps, your account could be permanently banned or deleted. Complying to users and platform security concerns, Facebook-owned messaging app is banning accounts of users who have been using versions of the app like WhatsApp Plus, GB WhatsApp. Company had already intimated its users about this earlier itself.

Reporting Can Lead to Account Closure

In the early stages of this alert, WhatsApp did not permanently delete accounts but temporarily banned them.
