Reliance Jio has initiated offering access to an 18-month free Google AI Pro subscription to its users on Saturday. The Indian telecom service provider announced its partnership with the Mountain View tech giant last week. Both of them have agreed to offer users free access to Gemini for a year and a half. Jio has stated that during the initial rollout, only users aged between 18 and 25 will be considered, and later it will be expanded to all users. But right now, even those above the age of 25 can activate the free subscription.
Here’s how you can claim the free subscription:
You would need an active Jio SIM card with an unlimited 5G plan. After that, go to the MyJio application and follow these steps:
- On the home page of the app, you will see an “Early Access” banner at the top.
- Tap the Claim Now button within the banner.
- You will be asked to open a new page in the browser.
- Once you open the webpage, you will be able to see the details of the plan.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap on Agree.
- That’s it! You can now go to the Gemini app and confirm your Pro status.
New features with the jio subscription
This plan that Jio is offering for free usually costs Rs 1,950 a month and comes with extended access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model. Beyond that, users will get access to features such as image generation via Nano Banana and Deep Research, which are not available for free users.
You can now create free AI videos with simple prompts. Users will also be able to use Google AI’s ecosystem across Workspace apps such as Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and more. Beyond that, the subscription also brings access to the Whisk app. One of the best benefits is access to 2TB storage across Drive, Gmail, and Photos.
