Apple has just released the all-new iOS 26 update, and customers who have installed the new OS are already reporting issues. According to a slew of complaints across the internet, phones began experiencing significant battery drain immediately after the update. Many users have expressed their frustration over the issue.
Media reports allege that the criticism began surfacing immediately after the update was released.
One user claimed their phone’s battery dropped from 100% to just 79% in under an hour, while another reported an overall decline in battery health following the update.
Phones Showcasing Increased Temperature
Beyond battery concerns, users are also reporting that the new version still contains bugs and lags when rendering animations. Apple had previously warned users about potential issues following the update, stating that they might experience temporary impacts on battery life and thermal performance after installation.
A number of users on Reddit have also complained that their phones are running hotter than usual post-update. A user by the name Dramfan mentioned that the phone had to index a large number of items, which took a considerable amount of time. Some users even speculated that Apple may have anticipated the rise in temperature, as the new iPhone 17 models are equipped with vapor chamber cooling systems.
While the impact of software updates on battery life has been noted in past Apple support documents, the company has not previously addressed post-update battery drain as explicitly as users are now experiencing.
