New Delhi: Flipkart recently displayed a banner advertisement which mentioned that the iPhone 13 was available for just Rs 11, sparking frenzy among buyers. However, as users rushed to get their hands on this unbelievable offer, the product went out of stock. This has sparked outrage on social media with users accusing the e-commerce major of using this misleading tactic as a form of free marketing.
Online discounts and offers are common during the festive season, but such misleading advertisements often leave customers disappointed. The tactic that promotes “too-good-to-be-true” deals where products vanish almost instantly raises concerns about ethical business practices.
In several countries, such marketing gimmicks can lead to hefty penalties or even lawsuits for misleading customers.
