We are now less than a week away from Apple’s ‘Awe Dropping’ event, where the tech giant will unveil the much-anticipated iPhone 17 series. Some of the brand’s popular older devices are expected to be phased out after the launch. On September 9, Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Air, along with updated Apple Watch models and a new AirPods Pro.
While all eyes will be on the new releases, the event also marks the discontinuation of several existing Apple devices, a yearly occurrence for the company.
Older iPhones To Be Discontinued
As per reports, existing models – the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max – will likely be discontinued after the arrival of the iPhone 17 series. Once the replacement is launched, last year’s flagship models could also be dropped from the official lineup.

However, the phones can be purchased from other platforms, but the stock will be limited. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also expected to be phased out. However, buyers could get massive discounts on older models during the festive season.
Apple Watch Lineup
Apart from the smartphones, Apple might also replace the current Watch Series with the upcoming one. It will mark the end of the road for the Watch Series 10 once the Watch Series 11 is launched.

The brand could also discontinue the Watch Ultra 2, introduced two years ago, after the launch of the Watch Ultra 3 on September 9. Last year, the Ultra 2 only received a new colour variant alongside the iPhone 16 series.

Apple may also bid farewell to the affordable Watch SE model, making way for the latest Watch SE 2.
