1. New Front Camera
Rumours suggest that the new iPhone 17 series could get a 24MP selfie camera, up from the 12MP lens on the existing models. The higher-resolution sensor will enhance image quality, and the new camera will also support up to 2x cropping without compromising quality.
2. Triple 48MP lens
According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature a 48MP lens instead of the 12MP found on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. If this turns out to be true, it will mean that the iPhone 17 Pro series will become the first to receive a triple 48MP camera setup. The 48MP shooter is rumoured to support 3.5x optical zoom instead of the 5x optical zoom on the existing models, making it suitable for portrait shots. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could become the first iPhone to pack the biggest battery ever – a 5,000mAh unit. The iPhone 16 Pro Max houses a 4,676mAh battery. The increased battery size could mean a thicker Pro Max, up from 8.25mm to 8.75mm.
4. A19 Pro Chipset
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will reportedly be powered by a new A19 Pro chipset based on the 3nm process, which could boost performance and efficiency compared to the current model. As for RAM, it could increase from 8GB to 12GB. The extra RAM is expected to help Apple’s Intelligence features in iOS 26 run more smoothly and also make multitasking easier.

Just like its predecessor, the new iPhone model could sport a 6.8-inch ProMotion 120Hz display. However, leaks suggest that Apple might introduce an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant screen, but not this time- it could come with the iPhone 18 series next year. Apple is expected to ditch its squarish camera island setup on the iPhone 16 Pro Max in favour of a horizontal camera bump that could house the triple camera setup. This could mark the biggest design shift in Pro series iPhones in years, and the company is also planning to eliminate the use of Titanium on the premium iPhones in favour of a Glass Aluminium finish.
