Apple on Tuesday, September 9, launched the standard iPhone 17 at its much-anticipated annual ‘Awe Dropping’ event at Apple Park in Cupertino. The iPhone 17 brings in a mix of design tweaks, display upgrades, and camera improvements. Here’s all you need to know:
iPhone 17: Design and Display
The phone has slimmer borders, curved edges, and a tougher Ceramic Shield 2 glass on the front that is more scratch-resistant. It comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display that can go up to 3000 nits brightness. The screen also supports ProMotion with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which makes scrolling and gaming smoother. The iPhone 17 will be available in five colours, including a new Lavender option.
iPhone 17: Cameras
There are two 48MP cameras at the back – a main and an ultra-wide. The ultra-wide now captures more detail than before, while the main camera supports 2x zoom. By default, photos save at 24MP for a good balance of quality and storage.

On the front, there is an 18MP camera with features like Center Stage, which adjusts the frame to keep people in view during photos and video calls. It also supports steady video recording.
iPhone 17: Performance and Battery
The phone runs on the new A19 chip, which powers features like live translation and better gaming. Apple says the battery can last up to 30 hours of video playback. A 10-minute charge with a fast adapter can give around 8 hours of video time.
Storage and Price
Storage starts at 256GB and goes up to 512GB. The iPhone 17 starts at $799 in the US, with pre-orders beginning September 12.
