In a thrilling race to redefine smartphone design, Samsung had unveiled the stunning Galaxy S25 Edge, a marvel of engineering equipped with flagship specs and cutting-edge camera sensors in a sleek 5.84mm chassis. This device was at the time of launch, hailed as a game-changer, poised to capture the hearts of tech enthusiasts. However, Samsung isn’t alone in this pursuit of ultra-thin excellence, as Apple is gearing up to launch its iPhone 17 Air soon, rumored to be even slimmer at approximately 5.5mm, according to dummy units.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Specs
The Galaxy S25 Edge cherry-picks the best features from the S25 range and presents them in a tighter, more agile chassis that is only 5.84mm thick. The Edge boasts a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The camera unit includes a 200MP f/1.7 aperture (wide), 1/1.56” sensor with PDAF and OIS, alongside a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide PDAF front-facing camera. As per the specs, the phone has a 3900mAh battery with a 25W wired charging apparatus.
Apple iPhone 17 Air Expected Specs
While Apple has not confirmed any details about the release of the new phone, it’s possible that the Air will be equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED screen with HDR support. The processor is expected to be an A19 (3nm) chipset with a hexa-core architecture and an Apple GPU. The phone would run on iOS 19. While Apple has not revealed what the variants will look like, it’s possible that they will include 128GB with 12GB RAM, 256GB with 12GB RAM, and 512GB with 12GB RAM.
Apple has opted for a single-camera setup featuring a 48MP sensor with dual-tone LED flash and HDR support. The front camera unit is expected to be a 12MP sensor with an f/1.9, 23mm wide lens. Since dummy units have showcased the phone to be only 5.5mm thick, there is widespread suspicion that the phone will have a compromised battery, potentially smaller than the 3900mAh of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. A recent leak has also suggested that Apple might sell the phone with a special case to further aid battery life.
