What’s New?
New Customisation Abilities
iPhone users can now customise their Lock Screen, Control Center and Home Screen, thanks to iOS 18. On the Home Screen, they can now arrange widgets and apps in any open space with each. For quick access, feel free to put them above the dock.
There is now a dark and tinted effect for app icons and widgets. You can even make them look bigger as per your convenience. Now, get easier access to a lot of things as the Control Center has now been redesigned.
Photos App Redesigned
The Photos app is now easy to use with a single view showing a familiar grid. Users can now browse new collections by themes and need not organise content into albums. There is also an option to pin collections for an easy access of your favourites. There is a new carousel view which shows highlights every day.
iMessage Updates
The iMessage now has new text effect which amplifies any word, phrase, letter, emoji or word with animated appearances, thus bringing conversations to life. Formatting options include italics, underline, bold, and strikethrough. One of the striking features is that users can now schedule a message. Incoming email can be sorted into Primary for personal or time-sensitive emails using the on-device categorisation. Similarly, they can be organised to Transactions for receipts and confirmations, Updates for social notifications and news, and Promotions for coupons and marketing emails.
Updates to Safari And A New Passwords App
Safari now displays key information about a webpage with the use of machine learning. If you want to read the gist of any information, you will get a summary. Now, iPhone users can quickly get location of a hotel or restaurant. A new Passwords app has been introduced with the iOS 18, which makes access to passkeys, passwords, Wi-Fi passwords and verification code easy for the users.
What You Should Do Before Installing iOS 18 in Your iPhone?
-First of all, you need to free up your storage before installing iOS 18 in your iPhone as the new update will require ample space. For a smooth installation, it is recommended that you clear the space. Start with deleting the apps that you don’t use.
-If possible, delete WhatsApp and Instagram before installation as these two tend to occupy a lot of space. Of course, these can be reinstalled when your job is done.
-It’s very important to take the backup of your device before updating your device, else you might end up losing it. For added protection, users can use iCloud or local backup.
-Ensure that your device is fully charged and has a steady Wi-Fi connection before you start the download. This will prevent disruptions during the update.
