In a recent update Chat GPT has provided the users with the added functionality to transform their personal images and other pictures into Studio Ghibli-styled pictures. The availability of art style that is known for its alacrity, dexterity and painstaking details is now available with the help of chat GPT after putting in a few prompts with the Ghibli diffusion model. But since this trend has been gaining endless momentum in recent times, Studio Ghibli owner Miyazaki has raised concerns regarding copyright issues.
Ethical concerns regarding the Ai’s intelligence tools trained on replicating copyrighted creative works and how it can impact future livelihoods for artists is the apparent question that has been raised by artists. Miyazaki, who is known for his hand-drawn style that takes hours of dexterity and painstaking hard work to create, has raised concerns about the Ai’s role in animation as well.

In a technical paper that was posted on Tuesday, the company had said that the new tool would be taking a conservative approach in the way that it does not directly mimic the aesthetics of Individual artists. In the paper the company also reported about how a refusal to mimic any individual style triggers when a user tries to replicate the style of any living artist or copy any copyrighted material or famous art.
Miyazaki has had inhibitions regarding the use of Ai in the past as well, in the year 2016 he had mentioned how he was utterly disgusted by the display as per the documentary footage of the interaction. Whatever the reason for concern might be, users have flocked to the platform which allows a few free trials and beyond that the users have to opt for a plan to use the application further.
The concern that have been raised by Meyazaki resolutely showcase the concerns that must torment painters and artists known for their individualistic styles. As of now no reports have been published as to what extent the new feature allows the mimicking of artistic styles, and at what prompts does it curtail.
