Indian American Software Engineer Vaniya Aggarwal had gained formidable attention after disrupting Microsoft’s 50th Anniversary celebrations in April this year. After the previous debacle, the engineer has caused a deterrence at another high class Microsoft ongoing developer event. Vaniya Aggarwal along with another fired Microsoft employee Hossam Nasr were involved in the act. They showcased their dejection towards Microsoft’s trade ties with Israel while the head of security for Ai systems was speaking.
As per reports Neta Halby was co hosting a Build Session on Best Security Practices for AI, Alongside Sarah Bird, Microsoft’s head responsible for AI. It was while both of the senior officers were holding discourse that they were interrupted by the former Microsoft employees to protest against the Company’s cloud contracts with the Israeli Government. This is the third attempt at protesting a Microsoft Build 2025 conference by Pro -Palestine protests.
Repeated Attempts at Disrupting Conferences
It was on 19th, shortly after CEO Satya Nadella’s speech a dejected employee started shouting free Palestine and demanded accountability from Microsoft for working with the Israeli government. On May 20th, a Palestinian tech worker interrupted Microsoft Executive Jay Parikh’s keynote presentation, marking the second consecutive attempt at Pro-Palestine protests at the event.
Earlier this year, Vaniya Aggarwal disrupted Microsoft’s 50Tth anniversary celebrations as well. As Microsoft’s Current CEO Satya Nadella; and former CEO’s Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates sat on stage talking about the company. It was then that Vaniya Aggarwal stood up and shouted ‘ shame on You, You All Are Hypocrites’, ‘Cut ties with Israel’.
Who is Vaniya Aggarwal!
Vaniya had previously publicly shared her resignation email. She had sent her resignation mail to Satya Nadella and thousands of Microsoft employees following her protest at the company’s 50th anniversary celebration on April 4th. Vanya was fired by Microsoft shortly after. Along with her, fellow protestor, Ibithal Aboussad too was terminated citing acts of misconduct in the company.
