WhatsApp allows users to change the ringtone for messages and voice calls. It also allow users to customize ringtones for specific contacts. Here are the steps users have to follow to change ringtone on their android and iOS devices.
WhatsApp – How To Change Ringtone On An Android Device?
Change conversation tone or ringtone for all messages and calls
- Tap on the Settings menu and click on the Notifications option.
- Go in the Calls option and tap on Ringtone menu.
- Go in the Calls option and tap on Ringtone menu.
Custom ringtone for specific contacts
- Open the chat with the contact or group you want to customize.
- Tap the contact or group name.
- Click on Custom notifications and go on Use custom notifications.
- Select the notification tone you’d like to change.
- Under Message notifications, tap Notification tone. Select a tone and tap Save or Apply whereas for Call notifications, tap Ringtone and select a ringtone and tap Save or Apply.
How To Change Ringtone On An iOS Device?
“On iPhone, you can select any ringtone available within WhatsApp,” as per WhatsApp’s help center. Tap on WhatsApp Settings and than go to Notifications option. Choose different ringtones for messages, group messages and WhatsApp Calls from here.
“With iOS 12 and third party call integration, the ringtone used for WhatsApp voice calls is the ringtone set in the contact information within the phone’s Contacts app,” says WhatsApp.
Custom ringtone for voice calls on iOS
- Go on the chats screen and tap the contact’s name.
- Tap on Wallpaper & Sound and then go to the Alert tone.
- Select an Alert tone from the options and tap on Save.
Custom notification sounds for messages can be set under Notifications option in WhatsApp Settings. These options might defer for different iOS versions.
