Scammers always use fraud sims to make people their victims. To curb this kind of incident Government of India has constantly been making stricter rules to prevent such scams. Despite all these efforts, scammers manage to buy fraud sims anyhow.
Usually, they get sims in the name of some other customer by shopkeepers. These numbers are very difficult to track. If you also make a mistake while buying or selling the SIM, then there can be a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. Along with this, it is necessary to get the verification done to sell the SIM.
New rules will be applicable for selling SIM
New rules will be implemented soon for the shopkeeper from October 10. After September 30, people will not be easily seen selling SIMs on any street corner. The new rule has provisions to make registration mandatory for SIM sellers to sell SIMs. Without registration, those buying and selling SIMs can be fined up to Rs 10 lakh.
These documents required
The operator will be investigated for selling the SIM. To take a franchise, it is necessary to have a license. Only those people will be able to get the license who have valid government documents like corporate identity numbers, Aadhar cards, and passports. They need to go with e-KYC and police verification as well.
A unique ID will be issued
A unique PoS ID might be issued to SIM vendors. For this, they can apply on the official website of TRAI. Violating the new SIM card rules in any way may result in the PoS ID being blocked.
